My 1948 Farmall Cub, Black Cat, is a sick kitty! This video was shot 5/9/09 at the Color Country Antique Machinery Association's pull in Washington, Utah, in conjunction with the city's Cotton Days. Black Cat just got back together (and running poorly) the night before, and climbed up on the trailer at 10:23pm. We came to the conclusion that the governor is off by one tooth. Close-up shot of the magneto shows that it is all the way retarded (can't even put in the set bolt). It also doesn't fire with the 6v starter, but if we jump it with a 12v battery, it'll spin fast enough to catch. Cold Frames help produce healthy tomato plants, making a successful transition from indoors to outdoors. Your cold frame system can be any size and as simple and inexpensive as you desire. It's called a cold frame because the only warmth comes from natural sunlight. The most common home made cold frame is a small frame placed on a raised bed, made from leftover wood, hinges and pane windows.
Many gardeners have given up starting their vegetables, especially tomatoes, from seed because they do not use the cold frame process and often their plants die during the "hardening off" period. Cold frames can help keep you from losing your delicate new tomato plants by reducing the stress going from a protected indoor environment to outdoors. It can be frustrating, after spending money for the seeds and starting supplies, babying new plants indoors, the excitement of watching them break through the soil and begin to grow, many times if you plant them straight into the garden - they don't make it. You can use cold frames with any vegetables as well as flowers. If the temperature is going to temporarily drop a bit, it is easier to simply cover your cold frame at night with an old sheet than to try and cover an entire garden of tender seedlings.
There are many types of cold frames available on the market, from commercially sold metal and plastic mini-greenhouses to large systems that can be also used as hotbeds. Old fashioned cold frames have been around for hundreds of years in one form or another: There is one style cold frame that uses four straw bales, a recycled un-broken window and a brick for propping up the window on sunny days. Another uses recycled bricks and metal frames covered with polyurethane or window sashes. You don't want it to get too hot in your cold frame so you must make sure you have a way to prop open the top. Of course my favorite method is to place 4 pieces of wood, in a rectangle shape, making sure the back is higher than the front. The size depends on the size of the recycled windows you will using to attach with hinges, making the top open for easy access to your transplants. Be sure and use a brick or prop up the windows with home made 'legs' on nice days. It is also a good idea to use a slightly raised area for drainage.
Another bonus for using a cold frame is being one of the first in your neighborhood to have home grow tomatoes and vegetables. Just remember when deciding which type of cold frame you desire, make sure the area you choose has proper drainage and Southern Exposure. You can start your seeds 4 to 6 weeks earlier than normal and give your garden a jump start before you are officially frost-free. Why not try a simple home made cold frame this year, you can use your savings to try that new variety of tomato you have had your eye on.

Every time you start a workout, you should always warm up. This would loosen up all your tight muscles and would help you avoid injuries while working out. When warming up, jogging or skipping rope is recommended. Actually, you could engage in almost any light cardiac exercise that would get your blood pumping and would get you sweating.
Once you are properly warmed up, you can now start with your exercises. The first exercise I would teach you would be deep knee bends. This exercise would strengthen your leg muscles. What you do is you stand straight, feet shoulder width apart. You then bend on your knees as low as you can get. You slowly stand up and repeat again. You could do 15 repetitions and gradually increase through time. This particular exercise should not hurt, and if you feel pain in your knee area, you should stop immediately.
The next workout is a lot harder, but twice as effective. This is called deep knee bend jump. In the first part of the workout, it would be just like you deep knee bends. You bend as low as you can, but this time, you do it fast. You then jump up as high as you can. Once you land, repeat the same exercise. Initially, you do this 15 times, but you can gradually increase it as the strength in your legs build.
The last exercise i would teach you would be toe raises. These are fairly easy to perform and are great for your calf muscles. You stand feet hips width apart. You then slowly rise up to you tiptoes. Hold your position for a couple of seconds, and then slowly go down. Once again, 15 is the starting magic number.
With a lot of hard work and perseverance, you would be able to do whatever you want. Doing these exercises regularly will surely improve your jump by a lot. Be patient, greatness takes time.

Chinese Jump Rope is no ordinary "rope skipping" game. "Enders" hold an elastic rope while a "jumper" jumps the rope in special ways. The challenge? To jump successfully!
RULES
A Jumper jumps until a jumping mistake or "miss" is made.
-A miss can be made if a jumper jumps "out" instead of "in".
-A miss is also made if a jumper touches the rope incorrectly while jumping the game.

If you want to get a jump on the tomato growing season, starting your tomato seeds in peat pots is the best way to go. There are several advantages to this. First, you have an unlimited selection of varieties, whereas, you are limited to what plants the garden center has to offer. Second, you get to control every aspect of your tomato plant's growth, from planting, watering, feeding, heat and light. Finally, by starting your tomato seeds in peat pots, you don't have to repot one or two times into larger pots and then transplant into the garden. You can plant your peat pot directly in the garden.
About six to eight weeks before the last frost of the spring, get your peat pots ready. Use pots that are three or four inches deep. Use a soil-less starting mix that has no soil borne diseases, weed seeds or even nutrients in them. You will also need a water bottle with a sprayer, liquid fertilizer, a heat source and a light source.
Moisten the starting mix in the bag, this stuff is light and airy and will fly around everywhere. Fill your peat pots to a quarter to a half inch from the top of the pot. Place two or three tomato seeds a half an inch apart in the middle of each pot and cover with a quarter inch of the starting mix. Gently firm the mix making sure there is good contact between the seed and the mix. Use the spray bottle to mist the seeds, do not disturb the seeds with a blast of water.
You can cover your pots with plastic wrap to keep the moisture consistent during germination, just keep an eye on them to ensure they don't dry out. Place the pots on top of a refrigerator, a water heater or a heating pad to keep the heat at around seventy to eighty degrees F until they germinate.
In around six to eight days, stems and seed leaves should emerge through the surface, when this happens, remove the plastic wrap and move them to a light source. Some options are a sunny window sill, a sunny room or a fluorescent lamp. Don't get alarmed when the first leaves (seed leaves) turn brown, shrivel up and drop off, that's what seed leaves do. The next set of leaves to appear are the plant's true leaves. When the true leaves appear it is time to start a weekly feeding with liquid fertilizer. Just dilute the liquid fertilizer to half its recommended strength and use it once a week.
Keep your new seedlings under light. With a fluorescent light try to keep the light a couple of inches above the plants, and adjust the light as they grow. You can even leave the lights on all the time, but at least fourteen to sixteen hours a day.
When your seedlings get about two inches tall, pick out the healthiest plant and snip the others off at the surface, do not pull them out of the pot, you could disturb the roots of the remaining plant. Keep the soil moist, the plants fed once a week and keep them under light.
About one or two weeks before you transplant your seedlings into the garden, start taking them outside to a shady area for increasing amounts of time each day. This will help them adjust to the conditions outside, a process known as hardening off.
When the soil temperature reaches fifty-five to sixty degrees F and the day and night temperatures stay above fifty degrees F, it is time to plant them in the garden.
Just dig your hole and place the entire peat pot into the ground deep enough to cover the pot completely. The pot will decompose in the soil and roots can penetrate it like it was not even there.

These are clips from October 29th and 30th of Breezie and I jumping several obstacles including a bounce grid, cross rail to oxer, triple bar, and vertical to oxer line in 6 strides. The lowest jump is 2'0" and the highest is a 2'9" oxer. Constructive critiques are welcome! I know I used to do quite a bit of editing on my video's but right now I'm super busy and could now just find some time to post something. For now though, I want to guys to see my progress with Breezie, and give us any feed back you might have! Lately, weve been doing a lot of dressage work and were almost out of Training Level. Vertical jump training has been a hot topic for a number of years now. The surging popularity of the NBA and college basketball and the spectacular slam dunks seen in nearly every game has created a huge interest in such programs. It seems everyone wants to be able to dunk and new programs seem to be released on a weekly basis. As a result, most people think of vertical jump training in light of basketball.
Benefits for Other Sports Besides Basketball
Basketball players aren't the only athletes interested in vertical jump training. Volleyball players, football players, soccer players, track and field athletes all can benefit from a good vertical jump training program. If you are an athlete, you know the difference between normal workout discomfort and abnormal pain. Pain is a warning from your body that something is not right! Stop your workout until you have had a chance to determine what the problem is and what needs to be done about it.
If you are not an athlete, vertical jump programs are not the place to start. They do require a certain level of strength, flexibility and fitness to start. As with any new exercise program, you should consult with your physician to see if you are up to starting a vertical jump program. This is especially true if you have a history of joint injury or problems as jump training can be particularly hard on the joints.

As mentioned before, there are quite a number of vertical jump training programs out there. However, some have managed to prove themselves effective and have separated themselves from the rest. It is not the goal of this article to push any particular program but to help open your eyes to the additional benefits of leap training other than getting more hops.
